Broadford and Yea formed a temporary partnership early in the 2022 Outer East Division Two football season to deal with player shortages. After originally playing each other in round one, where Broadford defeated Yea, the clubs joined forces from round five onwards as a merged side, forcing the league to draw up a new fixture and shorten its season by three rounds. The combined team played as Broadford-Yea in the seniors and Yea-Broadford in the reserves, wearing both clubs' guernseys throughout the season as home games were split between each town. The netball teams continued to play under their respective individual clubs. Broadford-Yea's season was ultimately representative of its trying times off the field, with the combined team failing to win a senior game. In 2023, Broadford resumed normal service, while Yea went into recess, setting its sights on a 2024 return.
